A Bit of Sunday Fun
Today, we are doing something a little bit different…
We are going to look over some of the phrases we’ve learnt over the past few days and make up some interesting sentences with them.
I’m going to come up with a couple of examples and write down what they mean as well, to aid your learning.
Example 1:
Shake a leg, I want to go out to the karaoke party. It’s a great way to let off steam and I like to sing at the drop of a hat.
This could translate into:
- Hurry up, I want to go out to the karaoke party. It’s a great way to relieve stress and I love to sing whenever and wherever I can.
Example 2:
I didn’t sleep a wink, as I was worried that what the boss asked me to do wasn’t above board. Now I feel groggy this morning.
This means:
- I didn’t sleep at all, as I was worried that what the boss asked me to wasn’t legal. Now I feel really tired this morning.
Homework:
- Come up with some sentences using two or more of the English phrases, which you have learnt and let us know them, by writing them in the comments below
