Hello and good morning to you all! It’s a fine Sunday morning and I’m spending time with my little baby Anna, she’s now only 6 months old and every day is always so much fun!! However, as many of you know raising your first baby can be an uphill battle at times! making sure she’s always warm enough and helping her to sleep etc. An uphill battle” means if you’re trying to do something like a job that seems difficult to succeed in!
- I’m too busy at work! I can’t get the work done it all seems like an uphill battle!
- It’s always an uphill battle to get my homework done on time!
In yesterdays lesson we studied Snowed under, so let’s use both of these new phrases in the same conversation:
A: Hi John, how’s work?
B: I’m always snowed under with extra work! It seems like an uphill battle trying to get it all done!
A: Oh! I’m so sorry to hear that, let me know if there’s anything I can help you with.
B: Thanks I appreciate it!!
Well-done! Hope you enjoyed today’s lesson and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
