At the drop of a hat
Today, we have another phrase for you:
At the drop of a hat, which means straight away, without hesitation, immediately and without any persuasion.
Example 1:
- When I was asked to put all the music CDs into alphabetical order, I did it at the drop of a hat, because I love organising things.
Example 2:
- I was asked if I would like the opportunity to go on a working holiday to Switzerland and I took the opportunity at the drop of a hat.
- Another phrase you could use in this context is I’m up for that.
