Narrow down.
Hi, good morning!
Hope you all had a great weekend, I did! Last Saturday in one of my lessons the phrase: ‘narrow down’ came up.
- To narrow down the list to 50 applicants.
- We should narrow down the choices as much as possible!
For those that did not join our lesson, it means – Reduce.
There are other ways and usages of: ‘narrow down’ but for the review and context of our lesson it means to reduce something like a list of many down to a few.
Conversation:
A: Hi Jack did you get the Job?
B: I don’t know yet, they are narrowing down the candidates to about 5 then they will select the best from the list of 5.
A: Good luck!
B: Thanks!
Homework:
Let’s look at how we can use: ‘narrow down’ in the following case:
- You wish to buy a new dog but there are so many to choose from!
See you tomorrow!
